Testimony resumes Monday in the murder trial of the man accused of killing UNC student Faith Hedgepeth in 2012.

NC SBI Special Agent in Charge Justin Heinrich is expected to return to the stand.  Heinrich has worked on the investigation into Hedgepeth's murder since 2013.

On Friday, Heinrich told jurors about his role in the years-long investigation.

He testified that investigators initially focused on people that were closest to Hedgepeth before expanding the investigation to a larger group of people.

Heinrich also testified about multiple interviews with Karena Rosario, Hedgepeth's roommate. He told jurors that Rosario remained cooperative with investigators throughout the investigation and that her statements remained largely consistent.Hedgepeth was found dead in her Chapel Hill apartment on September 7, 2012.

Miguel Salguero-Olivares was arrested in 2021, more than nine years after Hedgepeth's death.  He is charged with first-degree murder.
