  • Monday: Mostly sunny with highs in the mid to upper 60s.

      • Wednesday: Another beautiful, fall day. Highs in the lower 70s.

Stretch of fair weather...for the fair

Sunday morning starts with a chill in the air. We're in the 30s north and west of the Triangle with some 40s farther east.

Afternoons will warm a bit this week, but not to any extremes. Monday looks gorgeous!

It will be breezy, though. Gusts could reach up to around 20-30 mph with higher gusts along the coast thanks to a developing Nor'easter.

We're sandwiched between the Nor'easter and an area of high pressure to the northwest. This will keep a gusty wind at times, helping to keep temperatures from skyrocketing.

Tuesday through Thursday mornings (at least), you'll need to send the kids with a jacket to the bus stop.

It will be a comfortable, fall week with most days seeing highs at around 70°.

With high pressure in place, rain chances will stay very limited. Totals will be very limited.

Nor'easter forms off the Outer Banks

An area of low pressure develops offshore this weekend, turning into a multi-day Nor'easter along the Outer Banks.

As the low spins offshore, we could see rough surf and ocean over wash along HWY 12 at The Outer Banks. Their wind gusts will peak between 40 mph and 55 mph, too.

The National Hurricane Center has outlined an area off the east coast due to this area of low pressure, and it has a medium chance of formation. Regardless of this system developing subtropical characteristics, it will bring impacts to the east coast from NC to the New England states this week.

At home, however, the northerly breeze around the storm will keep us dry and seasonable into much of next week.

Isaias brings drought relief to western, eastern NC

The latest drought report released on Oct. 15 showed little change from the previous week for central North Carolina. Eastern and western NC saw some continued improvements thanks to rain from the remnants of Isaias.
