Durham police arrested two adults and said three juveniles are also facing charges after an investigation into a string of vehicle break-ins that happened earlier this month.

According to police, officers executed a search warrant at a home on Rosedale Avenue on Wednesday after investigating vehicle break-ins that happened between Oct. 1 and 7. Police said the arrests were also in connection with armed robberies and a sexual assault.

Police arrested Treyveyon Cox, 21, and Telisha Hall-Cox, 50. Police said three juveniles were also charged in the investigation.

According to police, the charges stem from incidents that happened on North Roxboro Road and Club Boulevard, and are connected to an incident where 19 vehicles were broken into in at the La Quinta Inn on Durham-Chapel Hill Boulevard.

Police said they seized 10 guns, including four that were found to be stolen and two that were automatic weapons, as well as ammunition and cash.

Cox and Hall-Cox are facing the following charges:

  • Four counts of Possession of a Stolen Firearm
    • Two counts of Possession of Weapons of Mass Destruction
      • Two counts of Possession of a Machine Gun
        • Three counts of Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor

Police said they are not identifying the three juvenile suspects or the specific charges they are facing "consistent with applicable laws and restrictions concerning juvenile information."

In September, police were investigating multiple car break-ins at the Homewood Suites hotel in Durham, located less than 2 miles away from the La Quinta Inn. There were at least four damaged vehicles, including a truck with a shattered driver's side window and glass shards covering the ground.

In April, WRAL News covered a dozen car break-ins at the Comfort Inn located right next door to the Homewood Suites.

Drivers are asked to keep valuable items out of sight.
