Part of I-85, Dabney Drive closed in Henderson after crash damages overpass

Crews have closed off part of Interstate 85 and another major road in Vance County after a crash damaged an overpass.

Henderson police said Dabney Drive is closed from South Cooper Street to Exchange Street due to the crash. Northbound I-85 was closed at the overpass as crews responded to the crash Friday morning, according to the North Carolina Department of Transportation.

Traffic on northbound I-85 was slowly moving around the incident via the exit to Dabney Drive as of 7 a.m. Friday.

Drivers in Henderson will have to detour around the closure via Graham Avenue and Ruin Creek Road.

Police said the closure could be extended due to the damage to the overpass.
