CARY, N.C. — In just one half of action, #9 Southeast Raleigh and #22 Wake Forest showed flashes of why they are two of the top teams in the area.

It was the Cougars, though, who proved to still be one of the top dogs.

Micah Olu, the Eastern Michigan commit, scored two touchdowns, as Wake Forest defeated the Bulldogs, 12-6 in the HighSchoolOT Jamboree.

The HighSchoolOT Jamboree at First Horizon Stadium at WakeMed Soccer Park is brought to you by State Employees Credit Union, Talk it Out NC, the United States Army, and Wake Orthopaedics.

The event features 10 high-profile programs from around the state: Union Pines, Hunt, J.H. Rose, #19 Rolesville, #9 Southeast Raleigh, #22 Wake Forest, #7 Cardinal Gibbons, #4 Millbrook, Middle Creek, and #25 Southern Durham.

Hunt and Union Pines played on Saturday, Aug. 8, as did J.H. Rose. The Rampants had limited field time in a matchup with Rolesville that lasted just six minutes on Saturday before the jamboree was postponed due to inclement weather. The remaining seven teams returned to Cary for the makeup games on Monday.

This was the second of three games in a round robin between Rolesville, Southeast, and Wake Forest. All three of these games are 25 minutes with a running clock. For additional differing rules, read here.

Olu scored a pair of 5-yard touchdowns, the first on the opening drive of the game, the last on the final drive of the night for the Cougars.

The backfield duo of Olu and Jaden Hartsfield proved to be a valuable 1-2 punch for the Cougars, who have never lacked talented running backs.

The Bulldogs have two talented backs of their own, but got their lone score through the air. With 11:25 remaining in the game, Robert Tre Belcher found Cam Bullock for a 6-yard score. The conversion failed, and Wake Forest went the distance, while melting the clock, to secure the win.

The game-winning drive was started thanks to a 71-yard connection between Wake Forest quarterback Landen Perry and Hartsfield, the transfer from Southern Nash.

The rest of the drive belonged to Olu, who rushed for 1, 643 yards and 24 touchdowns last season.

Southeast Raleigh went 0-2 in the jamboree, falling to Rolesville 6-0 in the first of their two 30-minute scrimmages.
