Durant Road Elementary School teachers, students will start year in different building

Year-round teachers at Durant Road Elementary School in Raleigh will start their school year in a different building on Monday.

Durant Road teachers will report to Abbotts Creek Elementary School, which is just down the road and less than a half-mile away.

Year-round classes are scheduled to begin at Durant Road Elementary School on Thursday, July 30, but Durant is among three Wake County schools in need of structural repairs before students can return to classrooms.

Durant students and teachers will use Abbotts Creek Elementary School until the work at Durant is complete. The work is scheduled to be complete by August 17, one week before classes begin for traditional calendar Abbotts Creek students.

Work is expected to be complete at the two other affected schools -- Creech Road Elementary in Garner and Davis Drive Elementary in Cary --- by August 21. The first day of school is Monday, August 24.
