Durham Fire Department responds to two fires on Sunday; 2 injured, 2 others displaced

Two people were injured and others were displaced after two separate residential fires in Durham on Sunday. 

The first fire happened around 11:30 a.m. at a duplex on Raynor Street. Firefighters rescued one person from the apartment, while a second person escaped on their own. They were both transported to Duke University Hospital by EMS for treatment. 

Earlier that morning, around 10:20 a.m., firefighters responded to a house on Dunn Avenue. Fire officials say an outside fire spread to the home. Crews quickly extinguished the fire. Two people were displaced, but were not injured. The American Red Cross is assisting them with finding temporary housing.

The Durham Fire Department is investigating the cause of both fires.
