Two rescued from mobile home fire in Aberdeen

Two people were rescued after a fire destroyed several mobile homes and nearby structures near Aberdeen early Sunday morning. 

Shortly after midnight, the Aberdeen Fire Department responded to a fire along U.S. 1, south of Aberdeen, and requested assistance from six neighboring fire departments.

When firefighters arrived, they found two mobile homes, an outbuilding and two vehicles engulfed in flames.

Firefighters safely rescued the two residents from one of the burning homes. The couple was evaluated by paramedics at the scene. They were not seriously injured. The American Red Cross is assisting the displaced couple with temporary housing.

A third mobile home was damage but is expected to be repaired. No injuries were reported.

The Aberdeen Fire Department received assistance from the following departments: Pinebluff Fire and Rescue, Pinehurst Fire Department, Southern Pines Fire & Rescue, West End Fire & Rescue and Eastwood Fire Department. The Moore County Sheriff's Office and Pinebluff Police Department also responded.

The cause of the fire has not been released.
