Carowinds' Fury 325 coaster closed for 2nd time in 3 years

Carowinds closed its popular roller coaster, Fury 325, on July 7 after identifying an issue with the ride's foundation during a routine maintenance inspection.

In a statement, the park said, "On July 7, during a routine maintenance inspection, we identified an issue with a ride foundation. On the same date, we immediately removed the ride from service, proactively notified state regulators and began the repair process."

Carowinds added that while the issue did not affect guest safety, repairs began "out of an abundance of caution."

This is not the first time Fury 325 has been closed. In the summer of 2023, the ride was shut down for more than a month after a crack was discovered in one of its support beams.

Carowinds said it hopes to reopen Fury 325 as soon as repairs are complete.
