Mike Glennon joins Ravenscroft's staff

Former NFL quarterback Mike Glennon is bringing more than a decade of professional football experience to Ravenscroft, where he has joined the football program ahead of the 2026 season.

Glennon said the move allows him to stay connected to the game without the demands of coaching at the college or professional level.

"You always have the itch to be around football," Glennon said. "I honestly don't really miss playing. I miss the camaraderie, I miss the locker room, and I actually miss the X's and O's. If you kind of combine all three of those things, that's pretty much what coaching is."

After discussions with Ravenscroft head coach T.J. Graham, Glennon decided the opportunity was the right fit. Glennon and Graham reunite after playing together at NC State. Graham was introduced as the school's new head football coach earlier this year and tapped his old buddy to help run the offense. Now Glennon has quickly immersed himself in developing the team's offense and expects to call plays on Friday nights.

"I've had an absolute blast doing it," Glennon said. "I'm combining the knowledge that I have from my experience in college, in the NFL and even back to high school, and trying to make it make sense for a bunch of high school kids."

While Glennon is excited about the strategic side of coaching, he said developing young athletes is equally rewarding.

"As much fun as the X's and O's and dialing up plays is, at the high school level a lot of it is about developing these kids and having an impact on their life," he said. "I'm hoping to have a similar impact on these kids."

Although he has not committed beyond this season, Glennon said he is enjoying the experience.

"We'll chat again in a few months and see if I still feel the same way."
