Recall: Frozen blueberries sold at Publix could be contaminated with E. coli

Publix is recalling bags of frozen blueberries sold under the GreenWise brand that may be contaminated with E. coli.

The recall, dated July 3, applies to:

• Product: Frozen GreenWise Organic IQF Blueberries
• Package Size: 10 oz
• Lot Code: 60401
• Best By Date: February 9, 2028

The recalled product was shipped to Publix retail stores throughout eight states, including North Carolina, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. There have been reports of 12 confirmed cases of consumers experiencing stomach illness between May 11 and June 5, the recall states.

E. coli can cause severe stomach cramps, diarrhea (which may be bloody) and vomiting. While most people recover, the bacteria can be particularly dangerous for young children, older adults and individuals with weakened immune systems.

Consumers should check their freezers for the affected product. The product should be discarded or returned to the place of purchase for a full refund.
