Man lying in road hit by car, killed on North Miami Boulevard in Durham

A person was hit by a car and killed overnight in a crash near North Miami Boulevard in Durham.

Around 10:45 p.m. on Monday, Durham police responded to a crash on North Miami Boulevard near Braxton Street. Police found a 2015 black Honda Accord sitting near the intersection and a man lying in the road.

The pedestrian, identified as Armonte Donovan Self, 39, of Durham, was declared dead at the scene.

According to investigators, Self was already lying in the road before the crash occurred. 

Officers investigated for hours while the road was closed. All lanes reopened shortly before 4 a.m.
