Man found shot at Wake County apartment, sheriff's office investigating

A man is in the hospital Wednesday night after he was shot at an apartment in Wake County.

According to the Wake County Sheriff's Office, deputies were called to reports of shots fired around 8 p.m. in the 9100 block of Fayetteville Road near Raleigh. When deputies arrived, they could not find a victim and witnesses were unsure if a shooting happened.

After searching the area nearby, deputies found a man with a gunshot wound around 9:40 p.m. at a nearby apartment. Deputies told WRAL News the man was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Deputies said that while their investigation is ongoing, they have found a person of interest in the case and there is no known threat to the community.
