Court appearance postponed for man arrested in decades-old sexual assault cold case

The court appearance for the man arrested for a decades-old sexual assault cold case has been rescheduled.

Reginald Taylor, 48, was arrested on Friday, May 29. He was accused of sexually assaulting a woman on December 1, 2001, in Raleigh.

Authorities said detectives discovered a closely matching sexual assault that happened that same year in Charlotte. DNA found at both scenes linked Taylor to the assaults. He faces several charges, including: 

• First-degree rape

• Two counts of first-degree kidnapping 

• Two counts of robbery with a dangerous weapon 

• First-degree sexual offense

• Possession of a firearm by a felon

Taylor’s appearance, first scheduled for Wednesday, is rescheduled for Wednesday, July 8.
