Dismembered body found last year near Falls Lake identified in new search warrant

A newly released search identifies a dismembered body found near Falls Lake last year.

It was in July that Wake County Sheriff’s Deputies were called to the 14000 block of Creedmoor Road for the report of human remains. According to the search warrant, investigators believe the victim is Brittany Elizabeth Wilkinson.

The search warrant shares a timeline for Wilkinson dating back to 2024. She was last seen alive on November 8. Nearly a month later, on December 6, Raleigh Police’s Homicide Unit opened a missing person investigation, with the possibility that Wilkinson had been murdered.

On July 12, 2025, deputies were called to the location off of Creedmoor Road near Falls Lake for reports of a dismembered body. On Sept. 26, 2025, Raleigh Police were contacted by the Wake County Sheriff’s Office that the body was identified as Wilkinson.

It continues, sharing the Office of the Chief Medical Examiners indicate there was evidence body parts were removed using an edged device, leading the department to rule the death a homicide.

The search warrant indicates a person of interest, though that person is yet to be charged.
