A WakeMed officer facing kidnapping and assault charges spoke out in court on Monday.

Jeremy Lee Bohne, 39, of Wilson, was arrested on Friday and charged with felony second-degree kidnapping, assault on a female, assault with a deadly weapon, interfering with emergency communication and more.

Bohne appeared in court in Wilson County at 9:30 a.m., where a judge set his bond at $250,000 on the condition that he does not make contact with the victim.

Bohne addressed the room when he asked for bond, saying "there's more to this than what's out there."

Bohne's parents declined to speak with WRAL News after court.

Warrants accuse Bohne of kidnapping, restraining and terrorizing a woman. According to warrants, he assaulted the woman by grabbing her "by the arm and collar," held her at gunpoint with a rifle and used a box cutter to cut through her shirt.

Bohne is also accused of taking the woman's cellphone to prevent her from calling 911.

Officials said Bohne worked as a WakeMed police officer and was suspended immediately following his arrest.

The Wilson County Sheriff's Office said Bohne was hired there in the fall of 2008 and resigned in the spring of 2025.

A WakeMed spokesperson released the following statement:

"WakeMed has a longstanding, zero-tolerance policy in place for any threats or acts of violence. We take any allegation of harm extremely seriously. This alleged behavior is not representative of WakeMed and certainly does not reflect the values we work hard to instill in our staff."

Bohne is being held in the Wilson County Detention Center.
