Honda recalls nearly 99,000 vehicles over airbag defect

Honda is recalling nearly 99,000 vehicles because the airbags may deploy unintentionally during a crash, increasing the risk of injury.

According to the recall posted on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration website dated May 21, the front passenger seat weight sensor may crack and short circuit, which can cause the airbags to deploy unintentionally during a crash.

Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed July 6.

Dealers will replace the seat weight sensors free of charge. Owners can contact Honda's customer service at 1-888-234-2138.
