Tickets on sale for Ripe for Revival's annual Chef Rival event on June 2

Ripe for Revival, a nonprofit dedicated to battling food insecurity and revitalizing communities through food, will host its fourth annual Chef Rival: A World of Flavors – Rooted in N.C. on June 2 at Rocky Mount Mills.

This culinary event brings together talented North Carolina chefs to compete head-to-head, creating globally inspired dishes using fresh ingredients sourced from North Carolina farmers and growers. The event highlights the connection between local agriculture and global cuisine while showcasing the importance of sustainable, community-centered food systems.

The participating chefs include: 

• Chef Luis Zouain, LaGana in Raleigh, N.C.
• Chef Kyle Fletcher, Glasshouse Kitchen in Durham, N.C.
• Chef Roberto Barth, Vidrio in Raleigh, N.C.
• Chef Michael Williams of Lilyann's Steakhouse in Rocky Mount, N.C.

The event from 6-8 p.m. June 2 will be held at 1151 Falls Road in Rocky Mount. Tickets cost $75 per individual or $100 per couple. Tickets can purchased online. 

This year’s judging panel includes:

• Caitlin Hutsell – 2023 Chef Rival Winner

• Chef Luke Owens – 2024 Chef Rival Winner

• Pitmaster Mat Griner – 2025 Chef Rival Winner

• Ken Smith – WRAL

Proceeds will benefit Ripe for Revival, which operates a fleet of mobile markets selling local produce, meat and dairy to the public at about 30 percent off retail prices at more than 30 sites per week in 18 counties in eastern and central North Carolina.
