Bunn baseball completes sweep over Burns, captures 4A state title

HOLLY SPRINGS, N.C. — Paint the town of Bunn green.

The Franklin County community, located just outside of Raleigh, a town that takes great pride in its athletics, will celebrate a state champion.

The Bunn Wildcats, making their first state title appearance since 1979 (2A), won the schools first 4A title, defeating Burns 7-5, at North Main Athletic Complex in Holly Springs.

Bunn (26-3) defeated the Bulldogs (25-4) in game one, 3-2, on Wednesday, and completed the sweep in less dramatic fashion Thursday afternoon.

Series MVP Caleb Johnson led the Wildcats over the two wins. Wildcats’ pitcher, Jared Hagwood went the distance, picking up the win with an eight strikeout performance.
