Weekend best bets: The Soccer Tournament, bubbles and shopping

May is a busy month for festivals and fun. If you're staying in town, this Memorial Day weekend features festivals like Animazement, Taste of Soul, a dessert event and more.

Soccer, golf and more fun

May 27-June 1: The Soccer Tournament - The festival experience and 7-on-7 soccer tournament at WakeMed Soccer Park features food and drink and music and shopping, but the event's highlight is that three players will walk away with $1 million prizes -- each.

May 28-31: UNC Health Championship - The golf tournament is held at the Raleigh Country Club.

Festivals and shopping

May 30: Around the World Raleigh - This festival in Moore Square celebrates food and cultures from across the globe.

May 30: Dix Park Inter-Tribal Pow Wow - Experience a day of competition dancing and drumming, vendors and music showcasing the incredible legacy and culture of Indigenous communities living in North Carolina.

May 30: Mental Wellness Skate Block Party -  The goal of this event at Conlon Family Skatepark in Raleigh is to create a safe, uplifting environment where people can have fun, build community and be reminded that support is always available.

May 30: GRL Market - The GRL Market is a monthly pop-up series hosting woman-owned brands at Transfer Co. Food Hall.

May 31: NC Vintage Market - A relaxed afternoon of vintage shopping, good food and drinks at Haven Farm in Knightdale.  

Adoptable pets

May 30: Hogs and Pups - Meet adoptable dogs looking for their furever home at Tobacco Road Harley-Davidson in Raleigh between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Lunch will be served.

May 31: Mutts, Meows & Mimosas - Come meet adoptable dogs and cats from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Viciois Fishes in Cary.

For the kids

May 30: Annual International Children's Day - City of Raleigh Museum hosts this day of books, crafts and performances.   

May 31: Dream Flash Bubble Festival - This kids' bubble festival at Dix Park features giant bubbles and interactive bubble stations, face painting, a slime station with hands-on fun, crafts, a game zone, food and more.

On stage

May 30: NC Symphony's Epic Film Scores - See the show at Koka Booth in Cary.

May 30: Ben Folds - The Emmy-nominated singer, songwriter and composer comes to Raleigh.

May 30: Young the Giant - The Victory Garden tour at Red Hat features special guests Cold War Kids and Almost Monday.

May 30: In the End - The Linkin Park Experience is at the Ritz Raleigh.

May 30: Uncaged - The Zac Brown tribute band comes to Bowstring Brewyard in Raleigh.
