Salem Elementary in Apex faces air conditioning issues, school working on fix

Salem Elementary School is having problems with its air conditioning, according to a letter sent to families of the school.

The letter said the temperatures inside the school reached about 80 degrees.

“We are working closely with WCPSS Maintenance to resolve the issue,” the letter reads. “While teaching and learning is able to continue, we recognize that these conditions are not ideal and some students may be uncomfortable in this environment.

“Our teachers are keeping a close eye on the students and providing water breaks as needed.”

It will get into the 90s on Monday in Apex.

The school is planning to keep its daily schedule the same.

“We recognize that these ongoing conditions are not ideal and have been frustrating for both students and staff,” the letter reads. “Please know that we are committed to providing a safe and comfortable learning environment for all students.”
